Update – Due to weather forecasts, works on the A828 near Appin will now only take place on Monday 18 December. No works will take place on Sunday 17, Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 December and works will be continued after the festive period.

· Works begin on Wednesday 13 December for 7 nights.

· Overnight road closure in place for safety, Wednesday 13

Motorist using the A828 will benefit from an improved road surface as resurfacing works set to be carried out next month.

The works are programmed for construction from Wednesday 13 December with no works taking place on Fridays or Saturdays. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. Outwith these hours traffic management will be removed, however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Unfortunately, due to restricted road widths through this section of the A828, we have no option but to close the carriageway to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. The A828 will therefore be closed in both directions each night. During periods of closure, amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm,12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site. Emergency service vehicles will be allowed to pass through the site throughout the working period.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
