There is just one week left for the people of Selkirk to share their experiences of walking and wheeling on the A7 corridor in Selkirk. The consultation closes on Monday 11 December 2023.
Transport Scotland and its operating company in South East Scotland, BEAR Scotland, has been gathering feedback from locals as part their aim to enhance safety for pedestrians using the A7 in Selkirk town centre. The consultation is an important first step to identifying and designing potential pedestrian improvements and encouraging more sustainable journeys in the town.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland Network Manager for the South East Trunk Road Unit said:
“So far there has been a strong response to the consultation with over 100 respondents as well as good attendance at the public meeting early in November. This is the opportunity for the people of the town to have their say and let us know their ideas for improvements to the existing path of the A7 through Selkirk.
“We’re urging people to complete the survey before it closes so we can ensure that any improvements take into consideration the views of the local community.”
The consultation went live on 1 November 2023 and will run until Monday 11 December 2023.
The community will be kept updated on findings and any future plans that may result from it.
While BEAR Scotland is only responsible for the A7 in Selkirk, it is liaising closely with Scottish Borders Council to ensure they are aware of all the findings from the consultation process.
