Road users travelling on the A830 through the village of Glenfinnan will benefit from improved safety features with works set to be carried out by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, next month.
This second phase of safety enhancements in the area will involve improvements to the verge and the installation of bollards along the A830 to deter indiscriminate and dangerous parking, and reinforce the waiting restrictions at Glenfinnan, providing a safer journey for road users and the local community.
Works will be carried out overnight between the hours of 8pm and 5am each night, starting from Sunday 15 September. The safety improvements are due to be completed by 5am on Friday 20 September. Out with these hours traffic management will be removed where possible.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A830, the carriageway will be closed in both directions during working hours to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public. During periods of closure, amnesties at 9pm, 10pm, 11pm,12pm, 2am and 4am will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely.
Access will be maintained for emergency service vehicles at all times.
Consultation has taken place with stakeholders to make them aware of traffic management arrangements.
