OVERNIGHT CLOSURE ON A720 BABERTON ON-SLIP

May 23, 2024

  • Lighting column replacement works to take place on night of 6 June 2024

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out lighting column replacement works on the A720 Baberton on-slip.

The works to replace the damaged lighting column will take place on Thursday 6 June between the hours of 20:00 to 04:00. To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, a total lane closure on the slip road will be in place during these hours.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

There will be a diversion from Clovestone roundabout, directing traffic along the B701 northbound until Bankhead roundabout.  Drivers will then be able to take the first exit onto the A71, heading west, to arrive at Calder junction to rejoin the A720.

This diversion will add four minutes and 1.6 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These works will reinstate the lighting on the slip road to the required standard.”

“We thank road users for their patience and understanding.”
