The hard shoulder on the M8 between junctions 3A and 4 is set to benefit from an improved road surface, with a night of resurfacing works on Thursday 9 February 2023.
The project will see BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, resurface 0.42 kilometres of the westbound hard shoulder on the M8 between Junction 3A and Junction 4.
For the safety of workers and road users, the M8 westbound will be closed from Junction 3A to Junction 4 between 20:30 and 06:00.
A signed diversion route will direct traffic off the M8 at Junction 3A westbound offslip where they will then be diverted via A779, A7066 & A801 before returning to the M8 westbound mainline at Junction 4 westbound onslip.
This diversion route will add approximately 5 minutes and 1.3 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “An overnight road closure is essential for the safety of motorists along this section of the M8. We aim to complete the works as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
Consultaion has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
