OVERNIGHT RESURFACING AT A83 SOUTH OF TANGY, WESTPORT

October 22, 2024

Updated 15 November 2024 – Due to delays on the A83 South of Tangy works will now require an extra night of works. Please see new dates below.
  • Overnight road closure with timed access Thursday 7 November to morning of Monday 18 November

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out overnight road resurfacing on the A83 south of Tangy at Westport. These improvements aim to deal with defects and to enhance road safety, as well as providing a better driving experience for road users.
Works will take place from 7pm on Thursday 7 November to 5am on Monday 18 November. No works are planned on Friday or Saturday nights.
To protect workers and road users, this section of the A83 will be closed in both directions during working hours. Timed access will be offered at 8pm, 10pm, 11pm, 1am and 3am to allow waiting vehicles to pass through the work site safely.
The road will be open between 5am and 7pm each day, where a 30mph speed limit will be in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.
Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This resurfacing project on the A83 will help provide a better and safer driving experience for road users. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and users.
“We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the projects by carrying out the work overnight and offering regular timed access. Timed access has been arranged to minimise impact to local transport services as far as possible.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this essential road improvement project. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
