The northbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed on the night of 7 May 2021, from where it diverges from the M80 to its junction with the M9. This is to allow 0.5km of carriageway to be resurfaced, providing smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
Between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of 7 May, a diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted via the M80 northbound and the M9 southbound, re-joining the M876 at M9 Junction 7.
The southbound carriageway of the M876 will remain open throughout these works. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours and access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans and share information about the project in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will help to address the defects on this section of the M876 and will greatly improve the surface for motorists.
“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out this project. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
