OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON A82 BETWEEN TARBET AND CRIANLARICH

September 20, 2024

Due to a forecast for adverse weather, works on the A82 between Tarbet and Crianlarich have been suspended until Monday 21 October.

  • Carriageway resurfacing starts Sunday 13 October until Friday 8 November

  • Overnight road closure 8pm to 5am with diversion via A82, A85, A819 and A83

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out overnight carriageway resurfacing on the A82 between Tarbet and Crianlarich from Sunday 13 October until the morning of Friday 8 November.

Additionally, general maintenance, drainage and road marking improvements will also be carried out to enhance road safety and visability providing a better driving experience for road users.

Works will be carried out overnight between 8pm and 5am to minimise distruption to road users. No works are planned on Friday or Saturday nights. Additionally, there will be no works on Sunday 20 October with works resuming on Monday 21 October.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, the road will be closed in both directions at Tarbet and Crianlarich each working night. A signed diversion route will be in place via the A82, A85, A819 and A83, adding an additional forty miles and approximately 52 minutes to the journey time for road users travelling between Tarbet and Crianlarich.

Outwith these dates, the road will be open between 5am and 8pm each day, where a 30mph speed limit will be in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These carriageway improvements to the A82 will help provide a better and safer driving experience for road users. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and users.

“We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the projects by carrying out the work overnight and avoiding working on Friday and Saturday night.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these essential road improvements. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
