OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON A84 NORTH OF STRATHYRE

October 14, 2024

Updated 1 November 2024: Works on the A84 North of Strathyre will now start on Wednesday 13 November.

  • Carriageway resurfacing starts on Wednesday 13 November for two nights

  • Overnight road closure with amnesties and diversion each night

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are carrying out overnight carriageway resurfacing on the A84 North of Strathyre from Wednesday 13 November until the morning of Friday 15 November.

Additionally, general maintenance, drainage and road marking improvements will also be carried out to enhance road safety and visibility, overall providing a better driving experience for road users.

Works will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 5am to minimise disruption to road users.

Due to the narrow road widths in the area, there will be nightly road closures in both directions to ensure the safety of road workers and the public. There will be a signed alternative route via the A9, A823, A822 and A85, adding 22 miles to the journey between Doune and Lochearnhead. In an effort to minimise disruption, timed access will also be offered at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am to allow road users to pass through the site.

Drivers should plan journeys and arrive ahead of official amnesties to ensure access. Additional amnesty periods may be provided where safe to do so.

The road will be open between 5am and 7pm each day with a 30mph speed limit in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These carriageway improvements to the A84 will help provide a better and safer driving experience for road users. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and users.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these essential road improvements. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
