OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON THE M80 NORTHBOUND AT AUCHENBOWIE

June 18, 2021

  • Four overnight road closures begin Tuesday 22 June 2021

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface one kilometre of the M80 northbound at Auchenbowie over four nights, starting Tuesday 22 June.

For the safety of workers and road users, the M80 will be closed northbound between Junction 8 and the M9 Junction 9 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 22, 23, 24 and 25 June.

During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place directing northbound traffic via the M876 and M9. This diversion will add approximately eleven minutes and 10.2 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These resurfacing works will improve the road quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M80.

“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
