BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.8 kilometres of the M876 eastbound after Junction 1 over three nights, beginning on Monday 28 June.
For the safety of workers and road users, the M876 will be closed eastbound between Junction 8 at the M80 and the M9 Junction 8 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 28, 29 and 30 June.
During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place directing eastbound traffic via the M80 and M9. The noted diversion routes will add approximately six minutes and 5.4 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M876.
“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
