Updated 30 October 2024: Due to changes to the programme, resurfacing on the A87 North of Sligachan will now be completed on the morning of Friday 8 November. In addition, works in Sconser have been postponed and new dates will be set in due course.
BEAR Scotland, operating on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to undertake essential resurfacing works from Monday 21 October.
The improvements will involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, and upgrading road markings for better visibility. The works will address deteriorating road surface conditions and provide a safer road for the travelling public.
The works are set to get underway on Monday 21 October until the morning of Friday 8 November. Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 7am each night. No works will take place on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 October due to high winds.
To ensure the safety of the workforce and road users, the carriageway will be closed in both directions each night at the work site. Amnesties will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site safely at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am.
Outwith working hours, traffic management will be removed however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Additionally, resurfacing works in Sconser have been postponed and new dates will be set in due course.
