OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS A85 GLEN OGLE

March 4, 2024

Update: Two nights of work remain at A85 Glen Ogle following resourcing issues experienced Tuesday 19 March. Please find updated information below.

  • Works will be carried out on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 March to complete all works

  • Full carriageway closure with amnesties

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are currently carrying out overnight carriageway resurfacing works on the A85 at Glen Ogle, north of Lochearnhead. Works have been taking place between 8pm and 5am.

Carriageway improvement works have been taking place since Wednesday 6 March and are planned to finish on the morning of Friday 22 March, following resourcing issues experienced on the night of Tuesday 19 March.

Due to narrow carriageway widths along this section of road, the A85 will be closed in both directions over the site extents, each work night, in order to protect the workforce and members of the public. Outwith working hours the traffic management will be removed and a 30mph speed limit will be in place to ensure vehicles can pass safely over the temporary road surface.

A signed diversion will be in place via the A84, A81, A811 and A82, adding an additional 59 miles and approximately 90 minutes to the journey time for road users travelling between Crianlarich and Lochearnhead. Please see the attached diversion plan for further details.

Due to the additional journey time associated with the diversion route, there will be amnesty periods provided at the following intervals: 21:00hrs, 23:00hrs, 01:00 and 03:00hrs. Additional amnesties will be provided where possible and when safe to do so. Motorists are encouraged to plan their journey whilst these essential improvement works take place and where possible arrive prior to amnesty periods to ensure they can be allowed through the closure.

Access will be maintained for emergency services.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. We thank motorists for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
