OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON M876

May 23, 2024

  • Overnight closure on the M876 at Junction 2 southbound on-slip

  • Works will take place on 3 June 2024

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface part of the M876 at the Junction 2 southbound on-slip.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the M876 Junction 2 southbound on-slip will be closed from Monday 3 June 20:00 until 05:30 Tuesday 4 June.

During this period of closure, a signed diversion route will be in place. Drivers will be directed via the M876 Junction 2 northbound on-slip onto the M9 to Junction 8. Traffic will then follow on to Junction 7, then onto the M876 at Junction 3 (Bowtrees), before joining the M9 at Junction 7, travelling on to Junction 9, before rejoining the M876 merging onto the southbound main carriageway of the M876.

This diversion will add approximately 11 minutes and nine miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing works will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M876.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, and we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
