Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is set to carry out resurfacing works on the M9 northbound carriageway between Junctions 5 and 7 in August.
The work will take place over seven nights from Thursday 8 August until the morning of Saturday 17 August 2024 between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00. No works will take place on weekends.
The M9 northbound carriageway at Junction 5 will be closed for safety reasons. Traffic will be diverted off the M9 via the Junction 5 offslip and will continue along the A9, B902, A88, A905 and M876 before returning to the M9 at Junction 7 for onward travel.
This diversion is expected to add 5.9 miles and 15 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M9, will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes or cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
All works are weather-dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
