October 1, 2024

UPDATE: Due to forecast heavy rain, works on the M90 southbound have been cancelled on the night of 16 October. An additional night’s work will be required on 18 October.

  • Road closures planned on the M90 Southbound from 14 -18 October

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will conduct a programme of overnight works on the M90 Northbound and the M90 Southbound from 8pm on Monday 14 October 2024.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and public during the works it will be necessary to close sections of the road, with signed diversion routes in place.

The works on the M90 Southbound will take place between Junction 2 and Junction 2 Southbound Off Slip between 20:00 to 06:00 from Monday 14 October for 4 nights, completing on 18 October.

  • The A92 Southbound on slip will be closed with a signed diversion will be in place between Halbeath Junction and Admiralty Junction with traffic diverted via Sandpiper Drive, Lapwing Drive, St Margarets Roundabout, Pitreavie Roundabout, Kings Road and the A985. This diversion will add approximately 11 minutes and 2 miles to affected journeys.

The works on the M90 Northbound will take place between Junctions 2 and 3 between the hours of 20:00 to 06:00 from Monday 21 October for 5 nights, completing on Friday 25 October.

  • Road closure with a signed diversion will be in place between Masterton Junction 2 Northbound Off Slip and Halbeath Junction 3 Northbound Onslip, diverting traffic via the A823, Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Sandpiper Drive and Sanderling Way. This diversion will add approximately 8 minutes and 1.7 miles to affected journeys.

Consultations have been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracking, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway, however we’ve scheduled the works during overnight hours to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date information and allowing extra time for their journey.
