Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is planning resurfacing works on the A702 at Garvald, North of Dolphinton on the 14th July 2022
To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as public, the A702 will be closed in both directions from West Linton to Dolphinton from 7:30pm until 6:00am.
A signed diversion route will be in place throughout the works. The diversion will direct southbound traffic via Bush Loan Road, then onto the A701 and through Penicuik onto Leadburn before turning right down to Blyth Bridge and rejoining the A702 via the A721, with northbound traffic following the same diversion in reverse order. It will add approximately 9 minutes and 3.6 miles to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this section of the A702.
“Road closures are essential for safety during surfacing improvements; however, we have planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption. We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for live travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
Live traffic information is available from the Traffic Scotland website and Twitter account.
