BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out traffic loop installation on the M8 eastbound main carriageway between Junction 6A and Junction 5.
To allow for traffic loop works to be carried out safely, the M8 eastbound between Junction 6A and Junction 5 will close overnight between 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Tuesday 28 and Wednesday 29 March.
A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from Junction 6A to Junction 5 via the B799, B7066 and B7057. This diversion will add approximately five minutes and 1.1 miles to affected journeys.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The traffic loops installation will ensure traffic data is accurately recorded on this section of the M8.
“Carriageway closures are essential for the safety of workers and motorists, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
