OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON THE EASTBOUND M8

January 24, 2023

  • Five overnight closures between Junctions 6A and 5

  • Works commence 2 February 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1.4 kilometres of the M8 eastbound main carriageway between Junction 6A and Junction 5.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the eastbound M8 will be closed between Junctions 6A and 5 from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 2, 3, 6, 7 and 8 February.

To minimise disruption, no work will take place on weekends.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from Junction 6A to Junction 5 via the B799, B7066 and B7057. This diversion will add approximately five minutes and 1.1 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M8.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
