A section of the M8 eastbound between Uphall and Roman Camp is set to benefit from resurfacing improvements.
The resurfacing works will see Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, resurface 2.5 kilometres of carriageway after Junction 3 eastbound, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
The works will also see the renewal of all road markings and studs to improve the visibility of lane delineations.
For the safety of workers and road users, the M8 eastbound will be closed for 16 nights from 20:30 until 06:00, from Monday 12 June to Monday 3 July. No works will take place on weekends.
A diversion route will be signposted, directing traffic from M8 Junction 3A, via Carnegie Road, Deans Road and on to the A89. Traffic wishing to re-join the M8 will be advised to continue along the A89 to Newbridge roundabout and the M9, before re-joining the M8 at Junction 2. This diversion will add 1.3 miles and an estimated 12 minutes to journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained and all traffic management will be removed out with working hours.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We’ve planned for these works to take place overnight to minimise the overall impact on road users and local communities.
“It is necessary to close the roads to ensure the safety of the workforce and road users alike.
“We thank road users for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
