OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON THE M9

March 1, 2024

  • Overnight carriageway closures 5 – 12 March 2024

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to start essential road improvement works on the M9 southbound carriageway before junction 1A.

Works will commence on Tuesday 5 March for five nights, between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00 each night. No overnight works will take place on the weekend.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and traveling public, the M9 southbound carriageway will be closed at junction 2 during the works, with a signed diversion route in place via the A904 and M90. The diversion is expected to add an additional 3.7 miles and seven minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes or cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information or X @trafficscotland.

All works are weather-dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
