Motorists using the M9 Northbound Junction 1 on-slip at Newbridge are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning to renew approximately 0.5 kilometres of the trunk road over three nights, beginning on Thursday 2 December.
For the safety of workers and road users, the northbound on-slip at M9 Junction 1 and one lane of the M9 will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 2 to 4 December.
During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place via the M8 eastbound to Hermiston Gait roundabout, returning via the M8 Westbound to Junction 2 and rejoining the M9 at Junction 1 Newbridge. This diversion adds an estimated 12 minutes and 9.8 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
