The northbound carriageway of the A899 between Livingston East roundabout and Dechmont roundabout will be closed overnight on Friday 2 February 2024 between the hours of 22:00 and 06:00. There will also be no access to the M8 Junction 3 eastbound onslip during this time.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out emergency patching of an existing pothole on the A899, that has deteriorated during recent inclement weather.
James Petrie, BEAR Scotland Network Bridges Manager explains: “It is essential that this emergency repair is done as the pothole is within the only northbound lane of the A899 that is currently in use, due to traffic management that’s in place for the ongoing repairs of the bridge over this route.”A899 northbound traffic will be diverted via Livingston Road, Houston Road, Deans Road and the A89 which will add six miles and approximately 12 minutes to journey times.
Traffic that would be intending to join the M8 eastbound from the A899 will be diverted via Livingston Road, Houston Road and Deans Road and can then choose to take the A89 eastwards towards M8 Junction 2 or take the A89 westwards to join the M8 at Junction 3A.
Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans in advance.
