Road safety improvements on the A90/A952 Cortes Junction south of Fraserburgh are set to get underway from Sunday 21 November.
The junction improvement project will involve teams carrying out surfacing improvements at the junction, addressing any defects that currently exist in the road, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists. In addition, solar powered LED road studs will be installed, and works will also be undertaken to upgrade road markings to help improve junction layout visibility.
The project will get underway from Sunday 21 November and surfacing is expected to take up to three nights to complete. The improvements will be carried out between 7pm and 6am each night, with surfacing works due to be completed by 6am Wednesday 24 November. Works to install the LED road studs and upgrades to the road markings will then take place at a later date.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in place overnight. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “Trunk Road safety is paramount at BEAR Scotland and this investment from Transport Scotland will create a smoother and consistent road surface, whilst also improving visibility of the junction layout for users of the A90.
“The traffic management required to undertake these works is essential to keep everyone safe, however we’ve programmed for the works to take place overnight and have arranged for all noisy operations to be completed before 11pm.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and as safely as possible. We would like to thank road users in advance for their patience during this project and advise them to plan ahead by checking Traffic Scotland for up to date journey information and leave some extra time to reach their destination.”
