ADDITIONAL OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE A85 NEAR TIBBERMORE

Please be advised that additional overnight surfacing improvements on the A85 west of Tibbermore have been added to the original programme of ongoing works on the A85 near Almondbank.

The project will now take place over ten nights with all surfacing expected to be completed by 7am on Wednesday 4 August, subject to weather conditions. No works will take place on Friday and Saturday nights.

The project is now programmed as follows:

  • A85 east of Tibbermore – Wednesday 21 July to Tuesday 27 July (five nights, excluding Friday and Saturday nights)

A 10mph convoy system will be in place between 7pm and 7am each night.

  • A85 west of Tibbermore – Wednesday 28 July to Tuesday 3 August (five nights, excluding Friday and Saturday nights)

A 10mph convoy system will be in place between 7pm and 7am each night.

All relevant stakeholders have been made aware of the revised dates for these works.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: “We’re pleased to be able to progress this additional scheme on the A85 to the west of Tibbermore having received confirmation from our contractor that they are able to undertake further works in the area.

“Conducting the additional works immediately after the east of Tibbermore scheme limits the longer term disruption that could otherwise have been caused by surfacing operations on this section of the A85 and provides an improved carriageway over a longer length for road users.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible and we encourage all road users to plan in advance by checking Traffic Scotland for the latest journey information.”

Works to begin from Monday 5 July for three nights

A section of the A85 east of Tibbermore near Almondbank is set to benefit from an improved road surface with work due to begin next week.

The programme of improvements will see a 560-metre section of the A85 resurfaced between Almondbank and the Tibbermore junction, creating a smoother road surface and improving safety for motorists.

The overnight improvements are scheduled to begin on Monday 5 July and are expected to take three nights to complete. The project will take place between 7pm and 7am each night with all works due to be completed by 7am on Thursday 8 July, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. Traffic management will be removed during the daytime, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in force to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This surfacing project on the A85 near Almondbank will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety of this section of the route for road users.

“The traffic management proposed is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and motorists, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the work at night.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
