OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR FIVE LOCATIONS ON A82 BETWEEN BALLOCH AND TARBET

April 20, 2021

Works set to begin from Sunday 25 April for four weeks

Five sections of the A82 between Balloch and Tarbet are set to benefit from an improved road surface with works planned to get underway from Sunday.

The programme of improvements will see over 3.5km of the A82 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

The improvements are scheduled to begin on Sunday 25 April and are expected to take place over four weeks with all work scheduled to be completed by Friday 21 May, subject to weather conditions.

The A82 will remain open throughout the project, however to keep roadworkers and road users safe a 10mph convoy system will be in place at each location between 7pm and 7am each night.   No work will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.

The intended programme of work is as follows:

  • A82 South of Tarbet (climbing lane) – Sunday 25 April to Thursday 29 April (five nights)

.

  • A82 South of Inverbeg – Tuesday 4 May to Wednesday 5 May (two nights)

  • A82 South of Cameron House – Thursday 6 May to Sunday 9 May (two nights, excluding Friday and Saturday night)

  • A82 North of Arden Roundabout – Monday 10 May to Sunday 16 May (five nights, excluding Friday and Saturday night)

  • A82 Arden Roundabout – Monday 17 May to Thursday 20 May (four nights)

At each site, traffic management will be removed out with working hours, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in force to protect teams and ensure they remain safe at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This programme of surfacing work for the A82 between Balloch and Tarbet will help address any defects at these five locations.

“The traffic management is essential to the safety of our teams and road users, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by carrying out the surfacing operations overnight and avoiding working on Friday or Saturday nights.

“We thank road users for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
