OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE A9 GLENEAGLES NORTHBOUND OFF-SLIP

May 5, 2022

Works start Sunday 15 May for two nights

A section of the A9 northbound at Gleneagles is set to benefit from surfacing improvements with works set to get underway on Sunday 15 May at 7.30pm.

The improvements will address defects in the road surface on the northbound section of the A9 at the Loaninghead Grade Separated Junction, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Sunday 15 May and is expected to take place over two nights. Works will take place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night, with all works expected to be complete by 6.30am Tuesday 17 May, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, the A9 northbound Loaninghead Grade Separated Junction will be closed with all traffic being diverted up to the A824 exit and then back to the A823 via Orchil Road. The A9 northbound Loaninghead Grade Separated Junction will be open during the day.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This project will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the A9, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption for motorists as much as possible during the improvements, including carrying out the works overnight and removing the required traffic management during the daytime.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A9. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
