OVERNIGHT SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR THE A90 KINFAUNS JUNCTION SLIP ROADS

May 4, 2022

Works start Wednesday 11 May

Motorists using a section of the A90 near Perth are to benefit from an improved road surface as surfacing improvements are set to get underway from Wednesday 11 May at 7.30pm.

The improvements will address defects on the A90 Kinfauns northbound and southbound off and on-slips, creating a safer and smoother road surface for motorists.

The project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday 11 May with all works expected to be complete by 6.30am on Tuesday 17 May, subject to weather conditions. It will take place over five nights, with works taking place between 7.30pm and 6.30am each night.

The overnight project is planned to take place as follows:

  • A90 Kinfauns Junction southbound off and on-slips

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the southbound off and on-slips will be closed on Wednesday 11, Thursday 12 and Friday 13 May during working hours. Off-slip traffic will be diverted on the A90 southbound to Barnhill Junction then onto the A90 northbound. On-slip traffic will be diverted on the A90 northbound to St Madoes Junction then onto the A90 southbound.

  • A90 Kinfauns Junction northbound off and on-slips

To ensure all roadworkers as well as motorists are kept safe, the northbound off and on-slips will be closed during working hours on Sunday 15 and Monday 16 May. Off-slip traffic will be diverted on the A90 northbound to St Madoes Junction then onto the A90 southbound. On-slip traffic will be diverted on the A90 southbound to Barnhill Junction then onto the A90 northbound.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the surfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Commenting on the improvements, Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Unit Representative, said: “This surfacing project at Kinfauns Junction slip roads has been designed to improve the general condition and safety of this section of the A90 for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworks and motorists. We’ve taken steps to minimise disruption as much as possible by carrying out the works overnight, however our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the A90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
