A 14-night programme of overnight resurfacing works is set to get underway on the M80 and M73 motorways.
A phased programme of roadworks will see sections of the M80 main carriageway improved between Junctions 2 and 3, and also slip roads at M80 Junctions 3, 4A and 6 and M73 Junction 3. Teams will work in phases over a two-week period, moving on to the next section in the programme once resurfacing is completed at each location.
To keep roadworkers, as well as road users safe, sections of the road will be closed overnight between 8pm and 6am, with signed diversions in place. There will be no traffic restrictions outwith these times.
Provisional dates for these closures are listed in the table below. It should be noted that these dates are subject to change in the event of adverse weather or operational requirements:

Commenting on the works, Carnie Morrison, Highway Management (Scotland) Limited General Manager, said: “This essential programme of resurfacing work will help ensure the M80 and M73 motorways is kept in a safe condition for road users.
“The works are being carried out overnight when traffic flows are reduced, to minimise delays to motorists as much as possible.
“Traffic management is required to ensure that workers and road users are kept safe, however our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We encourage all motorists to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
