BEAR Scotland has made it’s first £1,000 donation on behalf of all staff to a Perth Autism Support following a new focus on regional/local causes put forward by staff, launched earlier this year.
The £1,000 donation was made to PAS who helps support autistic children and young people up to the age of 18 and their families in Perth & Kinross.
Perth Autism Support is the first initiative to benefit from BEAR’s new charity-giving focus on local and regional causes across the country, with staff from all areas of BEAR Scotland invited to nominate local charities which were most important to them.
PAS was nominated by two members at BEAR, Network Officer Bill Park and Incident Liaison Officer Gareth White, who both put forward the local charity earlier this year after seeing first-hand the support the organisation provides to families.
Last week Bill and Gareth met with Elaine Finnie from Perth Autism Support at their head office in the city centre after it was announced that the charity would be the first to receive a £1,000 donation from BEAR.
Iain Murray, BEAR Scotland Managing Director said: “We’re so pleased to make our first of six regional charity donations this month on behalf of all of our staff.
“It’s thanks to suggestions from our teams we’re able to support causes which matter most to them, and we’re delighted to reach out to Perth Autism Support and donate £1,000 on behalf of everyone at BEAR.
“Supporting the communities in which we live and work is so important to us – and what better way to kick off our regional donations than by contributing to a local cause right here in Perth where our HQ is.
“We’re grateful to Elaine and the rest of the team at Perth Autism Support for all the fantastic work they do, and we’re delighted we’re able to support.”
Each month, more information will be shared about each of the remaining regional charities and how BEAR is supporting them.
