RESURFACING IMPROVEMENTS ON THE M9

April 9, 2024

  • Overnight carriageway closures 17, 18 and 19 April 2024

The M9 is set to benefit from a combined £220,000 Transport Scotland investment in resurfacing improvements this month.

Overnight works are programmed on the M9 northbound after Junction 10 and on the M9 southbound after Junction 7.

The northbound carriageway works after Junction 10 will take place on Wednesday 17 April for one night only, between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00. The M9 northbound will be closed at Junction 9, with a signed diversion route in place via the A91 and A9. This diversion is expected to add an additional 2 miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.

The southbound carriageway works after Junction 7 will take place on the nights of Thursday 18 and Friday 19 April, between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00. The M9 southbound will be closed at Junction 7, with a signed diversion route in place via the M876, A905, A88 and A9 to re-join the M9 at Junction 5. This diversion is expected to add an additional 5.9 miles and 15 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the M9 will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes or cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
