Motorists using the M90 at Junction 3 Halbeath are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning to renew approximately 0.4 kilometres of the northbound off-slip on Friday 19 March.
For the safety of workers and road users, the northbound off-slip at M90 Junction 3 will be closed during these works from 20:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Friday 19 March, Saturday 20 March and Sunday 21 March.
A signed diversion route will be in place via the M90 northbound to Junction 4 Kelty, returning southbound to exit the M90 via the Junction 3 southbound off-slip. This diversion will add an estimated 9 minutes and 7.3 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists.
“It is essential for safety that we close the slip road, however we’ve planned these works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
