Overnight resurfacing works on the A720 eastbound at Calder are set to begin on Sunday 8 October, for ten consecutive nights excluding Saturday 14 October.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will undertake the project.
For the safety of workers and road users, the eastbound A720 will be closed at Calder Junction from 20:30 to 06:00 on the nights of 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 15, 16, 17 and 18 October.
During these closures, a diversion route will be in place between Calder Junction and Baberton Junction via the A71 Calder Road and the B701 Wester Hailes Road, adding an estimated 0.4 miles and 3 minutes to affected journeys.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway, however, we’ve scheduled the works during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
