The eastbound off-slip of the M8 will be closed for resurfacing for one-night by BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, between 20:30 and 06:00 on Friday 28 May.
The Mainline M8 eastbound will remain open but will be reduced to one lane during the works. Motorists intending to exit the M8 eastbound at Junction 3A during this time should continue east to Junction 3, joining the M8 westbound, exiting at Junction 3A and joining A779 to Boghall Roundabout and Junction 3A eastbound. The added journey time will be 11 minutes, and an added distance of 8.3 mile.
Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will repair the surface defects on what is a very popular and busy route.
“It is essential for the safety of road workers and motorists that we close the off-slip during these works, however we’ve scheduled them overnight in order to minimise any disruption.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
