The eastbound carriageway of the M8 at Junction 3A will be closed for resurfacing on the night of Wednesday 13 December between 20:30 and 06:00.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works, renewing 400 metres of surfacing to create smoother and safer journeys for motorists on this section of the motorway.
A signed diversion route will be in place between Junctions 4 and 3A. Traffic will be diverted off at Junction 4 along the A801, A7066 and A779 before returning to the M8 at Junction 3A for onward travel. This diversion route will add approximately 4 minutes and 0.8 miles to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close this section of carriageway while resurfacing take place.
“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise disruption, however we appreciate that this will cause delays for some people and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
