RESURFACING THE M876 JUNCTION 1 WESTBOUND OFF-SLIP

January 27, 2022

  • Two overnight slip road closures begin Monday 21 February 2022

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.25 kilometres of the westbound slip road off the M876 at Junction 1 Checkbar.

The work will take place on the nights of Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 February.

For the safety of workers and road users, the M876 Junction 1 westbound off-slip will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on these nights.

A signed diversion route will be in place directing westbound traffic to continue to M80 Junction 7, before returning eastbound on the M876 to exit via the Junction 1 eastbound off-slip. This diversion route will add approximately nine minutes and 6.8 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M876.

“The slip road closure is essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible and thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
