RESURFACING THE M876 JUNCTION 1 WESTBOUND ON-SLIP

April 12, 2022

  • Overnight carriageway closures 14, 15 and 19 April 2022

Motorists using the slip road onto the M876 westbound at Junction 1 are set to benefit from an improved road surface, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning resurfacing improvements worth £155,000.

For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the westbound M876 will be closed between Junction 1 Checkbar and its merge with the M80 at Junction 8 Bankhead, from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of Thursday 14 April, Friday 15 April, and Tuesday 19 April.

A diversion route for westbound traffic will be signposted from M876 Junction 1 Checkbar to M80 Junction 7 Haggs via the A883 and the A803, adding an estimated 5 minutes and 2.7 miles to affected journeys.

Temporary traffic lights will be located on Larbert Road and the A8004 to provide access for local residents.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and all traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will significantly improve safety and ride quality for motorists using this slip road onto the M876.

“Carriageway closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.”
