BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1.1 kilometres of the westbound M876 after Junction 2 on the nights of Thursday 16, Friday 17 and Monday 20 June.
For the safety of workers and road users, the westbound carriageway of the M876 between Junction 2 and Junction 1 will be closed each night from 19:30 until 06:00.
During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place directing westbound traffic via the M876 eastbound to turn at Bowtrees Junction, before taking the M9 northbound to join the M80 southbound at M9 Junction 9. This diversion will add approximately fifteen minutes and 13.4 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M876.
“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
