RESURFACING THE M9 NORTHBOUND BETWEEN JUNCTIONS 8 AND 9

April 11, 2025

  • Two nights of overnight carriageway closures on 18 and 22 April 2025

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out 0.7km of resurfacing works on M9 northbound carriageway between Junctions 8 and 9.

The work will take place on Friday 18 and Tuesday 22 April between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00.

For the safety of motorist and road workers, the M9 will be closed at Junction 8 northbound while the works are taking place.

A signed diversion will be in place for northbound traffic, directing motorists via the M9 Junction 8 off-slip, onto the M876 westbound and M80 southbound to Junction 7 off-slip, before rejoining the M80 northbound at Junction 7. Traffic will then continue north to rejoin the M9 at Junction 9.

This diversion is expected to add 11 minutes and 8.2 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve ride quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M9.

“A carriageway closure is essential for safety; however, we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption.

“If you do need to travel during these works, please allow some extra time for your journey.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
