The M9 is set to benefit from two kilometres of resurfacing on the northbound carriageway at Winchburgh.
Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, will complete the work to create a smoother surface and safer journey for motorists traveling on this section of the M9.
Works will take place across three nights between 19:30 and 06:00 on Tuesday 3, Wednesday 4 and Thursday 5 October 2023.
A signed diversion route will be in place for M9 northbound traffic. Traffic will be diverted off at M9 Junction 1A along the M90 to M90 Junction 1A Queensferry. From here traffic will travel along the A904, returning to the M9 at Junction 2. This diversion route will add approximately 8 minutes and 4.1 miles to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential that we close this section of carriageway to keep workers and road users safe while the works take place.
“We appreciate that these closures will cause delays for some people and thank the travelling public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
