BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface a section of the M9 northbound carriageway prior to Junction 2, near Old Philipstoun.
To allow the works to be carried out safely, the M9 northbound carriageway will be closed from Junction 1A Kirkliston to Junction 2 Philipstoun, from 19:30 until 06:00 each night from Monday 2 December to Friday 6 December, and from Monday 9 December to Wednesday 11 December.
During these closures, a signed diversion route will be in place from M9 Junction 1A Kirkliston, via the M90 to Junction 1A Queensferry, the A904 westbound and the B8046, to re-join the M9 northbound at Junction 2 Philipstoun. This diversion will add an estimated 11 minutes and 8.8 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times and all traffic management will be removed out with working hours.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address defects in the road surface and improve safety for motorists using this section of the M9, while making use of sustainable techniques to minimise the environmental impact of the works.
If you need to travel on the M9 northbound during these works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow some extra time for your journey.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
