BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface the northbound carriageway of the bridge that carries the M9 motorway over the River Almond near Newbridge.
To allow these works to be carried out safely, the M9 northbound will be closed between Junction 1 Newbridge and Junction 1A Kirkliston from 22:00 until 06:00 on the night of Friday 15 December.
A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from M9 Junction 1 to M9 Junction 1A, via the A8 Glasgow Road, A902 Maybury Road, and A90 Queensferry Road. This diversion will add approximately 19 minutes and 8.8 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the quality and safety of the road for motorists using this section of the M9.
“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
