The westbound carriageway of the M876 after Junction 1 is set to benefit from a £245,000 Transport Scotland investment in resurfacing improvements, with operating company BEAR Scotland planning to renew approximately 1.2 kilometres of the trunk road.
For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed from Junction 1 Denny between 19:30 and 06:00 on the nights of Tuesday 20, Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 December.
A diversion route for traffic travelling westbound on the M876 will be signposted from Junction 1 Denny to M80 Junction 7 Haggs via the A883 and A803, adding an estimated 13 minutes and 6 miles to affected journeys.
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety for motorists using this section of the M876.
“Road closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.”
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
