ROAD ENHANCEMENTS NORTH OF A82 LOCH TULLA VIEWPOINT

June 26, 2024

Update: Due to bad weather works north of the A82 Loch Tulla Viewpoint require two extra nights of work that will take place on the evenings of Sunday 21 and Monday 22 July 2024. See update below.

  • Overnight road closure with diversion

  • Works begin Sunday 30 June at 7pm

BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake road surface improvements worth £500,000 on the A82 near Bridge of Orchy, north of Loch Tulla Viewpoint.

Works commenced on Sunday 30 June and will now be completed on Tuesday 23 July 2024, the project will provide a better driving surface for road users, while also enhancing road safety.

To facilitate these improvements and ensure the safety of all road users, the A82 will be closed in both directions at the work site each night between 7pm and 5am.

During road closures, traffic will be diverted along an alternate route via the A82, A85 and the A828. This is an additional 23 miles for road users travelling between Tyndrum and Ballachulish, which is approximately 36 minutes extra journey time.

There will be no works taking place on Friday or Saturday nights or on the night of Thursday 4 July. The road will be open on these nights where no works are being carried out, but due to the temporary road surface, speed restrictions will be in place.

Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained for the full duration of the works. Due to height restrictions on the diversion route, HGV’s over 4.2m high should proceed on the A82 to the closure point, where access will be granted when safe to do so.

BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, Ian Stewart, said, “This resurfacing work on the A82 will address road defects and enhance driving conditions. The road closure is necessary for the safety of both road workers and motorists, but we aim to keep disruption to a minimum by conducting the work overnight.

“We are grateful to the local community and road users for their patience. Please check the Traffic Scotland website for the latest travel updates before embarking on your journey.”
