BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake essential road surface improvements at two locations on the A83, North of Campbeltown. The first location at Drumore is scheduled to start at 7pm on Monday 29 July and due to be completed by 5am on Tuesday 6 August 2024. The second location at the north end of Campbeltown is scheduled to start at 7pm on Tuesday 6 August and due to be completed by 5am on Wednesday 14 August 2024, these improvements aim to improve road safety, as well as providing a better driving experience for road users.
To facilitate these improvements, and to protect road workers and motorists, the A83 will be closed in both directions at the work site between 7pm and 5am on the specified dates. Timed access through the work sites will be offered at 8pm, 10pm, midnight, 2am and 4am.
The road will remain open between 5am and 7pm each day, with a 30mph speed limit in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface. There will be no works scheduled on Friday and Saturday nights.
Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These resurfacing projects on the A83 will help improve the driving experience for motorists. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the projects by carrying out the work overnight and offering regular timed access through the work sites.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete these essential road improvements. We encourage road users to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
