Overnight road closure and timed access Monday 8 July to Friday 12 July
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to undertake essential road surface improvements totalling £225k on the A83, South of Kilchenzie. Works are scheduled to start at 7pm on Monday 8 July and are due to be completed by 5am on the morning of Friday 12 July 2024. These improvements aim to enhance road safety, as well as providing a better driving experience for road users.
To facilitate these improvements and protect motorists and road workers, the A83 will be closed in both directions at the work site between 7pm and 5am for the duration of the works. Timed access will be offered through the closure at 10pm, midnight, 2am and 4am.
The road will remain open between 5am and 7pm each day, where a 30mph speed limit will be in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.
Access through the work site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These resurfacing projects on the A83 will help improve the travel experience for motorists. The traffic management arrangements are essential for ensuring the safety of road workers and motorists. We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the projects by carrying out the work overnight and offering regular timed access.
“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can. We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this essential road improvement project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
