ROAD MARKING IMPROVEMENTS ON A9 NEWTONMORE TO KINCRAIG

January 9, 2025

  • Works to restart Monday 13 January for three weeks

  • Two-way traffic lights with convoy

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, will undertake essential road marking and road stud improvements on the A9 single carriageway between Newtonmore and Kincraig.

This work will complete a project started last summer, to remove and replace all white lines and studs for a total of 16km of the A9 single carriageway between the Crubenmore Duals and the Kincraig Duals.

Works will begin on Monday 13 January and are expected to be completed by the morning of Saturday 1 February. These improvements will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am and there will be no works on Saturday or Sunday nights.

In order to protect the workforce and the travelling public, a convoy system with two-way traffic lights will be in use on the A9 northbound single carriageway during working hours.

Junctions throughout the scheme will be controlled either manually by an operative or by a third traffic light signal to control traffic joining the A9.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This project to refresh road markings and road studs will help improve visibility and greatly enhance safety for road users.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as they can, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete these works. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
