ROAD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A7 SOUTH OF GALASHIELS

March 4, 2021

  • Temporary traffic lights for two weeks, commencing Monday 8 March 2021

Two weeks of work to upgrade roadside safety barriers on the A7 south of Galashiels is set to begin on Monday 8 March.

The £80,000 road safety improvement scheme will involve removing the existing safety barriers and replacing them with a new upgraded vehicle restraint system.

The project will take approximately two weeks to complete. For the protection of site operatives and road users, one lane of the A7 will be closed under temporary traffic lights between 09:30 and 15:30 each weekday.

Commenting on the project, Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said:

“Safety is a top priority for both Transport Scotland and BEAR Scotland and this scheme is part of that continued commitment.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible. Thanks in advance to motorists for their patience during these works.”
