A new road safety project on the A828 through Benderloch is set to get underway from Saturday 23 April.
The project will involve teams widening the footway near Lochnell Primary School as well as installing new road signs that have been designed by pupils from the school.
The project will provide safer pedestrian facilities through Benderloch and is part of continuing road safety investment by Transport Scotland in the area.
The improvements are scheduled to start on Saturday 23 April and are expected to take place over one week. To protect roadworkers and motorists, temporary traffic lights will be in place between 9.30am and 3pm each day. The traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Commenting on the project, Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “Road safety is a top priority at BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland, and this scheme on the A828 delivers on Transport Scotland’s commitment to improving pedestrian facilities through Benderloch.
“The improvements will provide pedestrians with a wider footway near the school and the new signs will warn motorists to reduce their speed when travelling through the area.
“To keep everyone safe during the works temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours; however, to minimise disruption we have planned for the traffic lights to be removed when they might conflict with school traffic.
“We encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date journey information.”
