ROADSIDE IMPROVEMENTS ON THE A720 AT STRAITON

June 6, 2024

  • Overnight works commence Tuesday 11 June 2024 for three nights

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is set to install a new safety barrier along the slip road exiting the eastbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Straiton Junction.

The work will be carried out over three nights, commencing on Tuesday 11 June.

To ensure the safety of workers and road users, the A720 eastbound off-slip at Straiton will be closed from 20:00 until 06:00 on the nights of 11 and 12 June, finishing in the morning of 13 June. During these hours, a diversion route will be signposted from Straiton Junction to A720 Lasswade Junction via Lang Loan, adding approximately 3 miles and 6 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders including local authorities and Police Scotland in advance of these works.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network manager, said: “It’s essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the slip road while we install this roadside safety barrier, however we’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise any disruption.

“We’re grateful to road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
